American travellers have found that an Obama button is their Canadian flag, if my observations on the streets of London are accurate.

Generations of Canadian travellers have worn a small maple leaf as a sign of their approachability - and a sign that they are not from the States. Americans internationally have tended to keep their head low to avoid personal retribution for their country’s foreign policy. You rarely - if ever - see an American traveller with identifying logos.

But this Obama button wearing traveller is different. The bearer seems to be saying, ‘I’m one of the good ones.’
