My favourite current affairs podcast right now is Monocle Weekly, hosted by Tyler Brulé. It’s nicely proportioned between discussions about culture and interviews with the Prime Minister of Norway. Even more than the Economist, Monocle (the podcast and the magazine) is one of the few media outlets that attempts to be relevant world-wide without pretending that it is based nowhere in particular .
I had held off plugging MW until today because this edition, number 7, focused on Vancouver but I think it is a bit of clinker. The interviews with Vanoc and someone from the UBC journalism school could not give a more insipid view of Van if they worked for the Georgia Straight itself.
The picture is of the Monocle store off Marylebone High Street, down the street from my flat. That £600 bicycle out front is gorgeous.
